The Pantanal is said to be a greater habitat than the Amazon for hundreds of species of mammals, reptiles, butterflies and birds. And you cannot get closer to nature than on horseback! If you are seeking a unique experience to observe nature and wildlife in their natural state, this is the equestrian vacation you are seeking. Your equine partner will bring you close to macaws, jaguars, monkeys and rare butterflies. Your ride through the world’s largest freshwater wetlands will be unforgettable.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Monday
You will be transported from the Campo Grande International Airport to the Baia das Pedras Ranch in the Pantanal. In the afternoon, you will become acquainted with your horse as your ride around the ranch.
Day 2 - 3: Tuesday - Wednesday
This traditional ranch consists of 39,000 acres and is located along the Stream Castelo. You will have the opportunity to ride across this rich natural land in search of toucans, macaws, jabiru storks, monkeys, and tapirs. In the evening, you will hear intriguing stories and curiosities about the people of the Pantanal and their surroundings.
Day 4: Thursday
At dawn, you will begin your destination to the Primavera campsite. The exuberant fauna and flora native to the Pantanal will surround you. You will continue through tropical forests with exotic birds flying overhead. After a restful lunch at the Sao Luis Ranch, you will continue along the Castelo stream until you arrive at the isolated Primavera. The campsite is constructed with hammock huts complete with bathrooms and screened against insects. A campsite meal under the stars will close your eventful day.
Day 5: Friday
You will depart at sunrise to the Barra Mansa ranch. The landscape alters as you ride to the Black River region. Record breaking peacock bass swim in the river. In the afternoon, you will take a boat expedition along the river and lounge on pristine white sand beaches. You can choose to swim or fish in the water. Your dinner and overnight accommodations await you at Barra Mansa ranch.
Day 6: Saturday
The most isolated area in the Pantanal awaits you. You may spot caiman, giant otters, capybara and even a jaguar. You have a choice of daily activities which include hiking and boat and canoe expeditions or you can continue to experience the exquisite sights of forests and mountain ranges on horseback. You will dine and rest at the Barra Mansa Ranch.
Day 7: Sunday
You will ride through a secluded forest to the magnificent sights of Baia Limpa and Baia das Ariranhas. The ride will continue across the Corridor, a cattle road used by the Comitivas cattle drive. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport.
