If you are seeking a challenging ride and incredible scenery without venturing to Europe, you will enjoy this equestrian vacation. Your horse will carry you over 100 miles through the scenic diverse terrain of the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec. Summer brings leaves laden trees, pristine lakes and rivers and dramatic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Autumn burst into colors when the forests turn to fiery hues. Your journey will include an invigorating gallop along the St. Lawrence River. A warm French Canadian welcome includes bountiful meals of locally grown fare and lodging at quaint country inns.
ITINERARY
Day 1 Sunday
Transfer from airport to your inn. You will meet your guide and fellow riders around dinner.
Day 2 Monday
The ride will cross fields of wildflowers and grazing cattle within the steep sided valley of the Tartigou River Valley, You will enjoy a brisk canter on the soft pine needles on the Evergreen Trail, a dense tunnel of pines where even the sun cannot pierce through. A rustic maple cabin is your venue for lunch. A path through stoic maple forests and along abundant grass fields will capture your afternoon.
Day 3 Tuesday
The ride will journey along logging roads skirted with large stacks of felled trees and tree farms. Lunch will be enjoyed at a blueberry farm. Guess what your yummy dessert will consist of? Your day is concluded with a hearty homemade dinner.
Day 4 Wednesday
Your horse will carry you past traditional farms and a brisk up hill gallop to a lofty windmill farm. The next destination is a trout hatchery where you can fish in stocked ponds for the evening’s main course, trout. After a respite next to a sparkling waterfall on the Petchedez River, you will return to the ranch for a sumptuous trout dinner.
Day 5 Thursday
Your horse will carry through dense maple forests for a view of sugar taps used in maple sugar. The ride will then climb into the Chic Choc Hills for a spectacular view of the countryside and a glimpse of the Atlantic Ocean. On the dinner menu is Quebecoise style fondue
Day 6 Friday
Rolling meadows and a crossing of the Trtigou River will lead you to an organic farm where lunch comprised of freshly picked harvest will be served. After a tour of the farm, your horse will carry you through the quaint town of Les Boules which boasts delightful gardens and a view of a unique three rock formation in the ocean. You will amble for four miles in search of seals, eider ducks and cormorants bobbing in the water. The ride culminates with the “Bonsai Canter,” an invigorating gallop on the along the shore.
Day 7 Saturday
Transfer to airport after a hearty breakfast
